Waving the flag

Ah, displaying the national flag…

The display of proud patriotic symbolism is becoming harder to find these days. But there are exceptions!

I see them regularly in my travels. I see flags dangling from rearview mirrors. I see bumper stickers, primarily on Honda Civic-type vehicles with those obnoxious mufflers they think makes their little crap-box sound so boss.

Then there are the flags mounted out of the rear windows on top of the car, waving proudly in the wind as the vehicle makes its way down the highways and byways of this country, having spent upwards of $6.95 (USD) per flag to show  patriotic fervor for the country they chose to leave.

Yep, I see flags of Mexico, Columbia, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Nicaragua, among others. I also see plenty of Puerto Rican flags (wishful thinking or ignorance that PR is a commonwealth territory of the USA, pressing to become a state in order to save their economy, now on the verge of total collapse?)

Yes sir, there are still those who show love of country.

Here’s another great example.  [postscript: I checked this post on 3/4/18. The picture link in the article was broken, but with minimal effort you can find in on the web]

LenSays:
If you love that other country so much what are you doing here? Don’t just send our money there, send yourself back. And as always, I will gladly point you in the right direction.
