God help us all

In my political post on Feb. 1, I speculated that the Trump candidacy would begin to implode after the Iowa caucuses and that his chances of winning the White House were equal to mine.

He didn’t do quite as well as he expected, but better than I expected.

After New Hampshire his prospects were looking better. But I reminded my readers that the first two states are small and not representative of the country. I expected the demise of Trump to begin in South Carolina.

He still won big.

Then it was on to Nevada and he won big again. My faith in the public was shaken and I said as much in my post on the Feb. 24. I asked, “what if the implausible becomes possible, even likely?”

The delegate count at this point is minuscule; about 1% of the delegates have been contested. Super Tuesday is up next and once again I am expecting the universe to correct this anomaly. But what if the correction does not materialize?  I said I was scared, angry, and embarrassed by the situation and asked “what can I do? …” (The ellipses was important.)

I reminded myself of my Feb. 1 assessment that my odds of winning were the same as Trump’s—or anyone else at that time. It was meant as facetious commentary on the state of the field being presented to the American public, and the world.

But then I asked myself, “Can I be/do any worse?” Why not find out?

So…
