Chirp: The (im)migration mess in perspective

The migration situation presently being played out at the southern border is being demagogued by all manner of out-of-control and irresponsible media/social media as well as the political class, in large part because most are pretending this is something new rather than confront the genesis and historical operational policy of the present law. As usual, without proper context, the result is the crap-storm we have now. But that is exactly what so many want. The left so they can continue to blame Trump for anything and everything, while both sides of the aisle of both chambers of Congress can continue to abdicate constitutional responsibilities and avoid political accountability for actions and inactions, past and present, in this mid-term election year.

So I dug back and found the germ of not only this problematic issue, but all of our national difficulties as noted decades ago by five-time presidential candidate, the late Pat Paulsen, who observed:

All the problems we face in the United States today can be traced to an unenlightened immigration policy on the part of the American Indian.
